Chhatra Shibir Holds Public Reception for Freshers at JU

The Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir (BICS) has publicly welcomed the 2024–25 academic year’s freshers (54th batch) at Jahangirnagar University (JU). The organization hosted a ‘Freshers’ Reception and Career Guideline Program-25′ on Saturday for the occasion.

The organization distributed gifts among nearly two thousand students at the University’s Zahir Raihan Auditorium.

Attendees and Key Statements

The event was attended by high-ranking university officials, including:

• Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education)

• Professor Dr. Sohel Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration)

• Professor Dr. A. K. M. Rashidul Alam, Proctor

• Zahidul Islam, Central President of Chhatra Shibir

• Sadiq Kayem, Central Publication Secretary of Chhatra Shibir and DUCSU VP (Dhaka University Central Students’ Union Vice President).

Abu Sadiq Kayem delivered a politically charged address:

Kayem stated: “We have achieved today’s new Bangladesh through the sacrifice of revolutionaries. Our movement and struggle must always continue to ensure the trial of the killer Hasina and suppress the accomplices of fascism.”

Zahidul Islam, Central President of Chhatra Shibir, addressed the perceived negativity surrounding student politics:

Zahidul Islam said: “Student politics has been tainted in the past.” Addressing the ‘covert tag’ often associated with the group, he stated: “They [critics] give us the covert tag as part of an old policy to establish a lie in society by repeating it frequently. Our freshers’ reception program today is happening in public. Since August 5th, we have been working openly on various campuses.”
